hey louis, why have you stopped writing?

i think music speaks by itself, surtout when it's peggy lee, fred astaire, frank sinatra ou les frères everly ....
ou alors ça ....
.........
.........

....
....
....
ou alors ça .....

sarah vaughan/she came from another planet, elle chantait nue, à voix nue, it's naked singing at its best....
...
...
ou alors ça ...

the one and only captain beefheart, sentimental, sucré, aride
...
...
ou alors ça

bob dylan/ballad of a thin man
copenhague, 30 avril 1965, that is BEFORE blonde on blonde, before the motorcycle accident ....
in fact, it's even before he recorded the song for highway 61 revisited ...
...
...
ou cette version de georgia on my mind

billie holiday/georgia on my mind
.....
.....
ou ces deux versions si belles qu'elles s'en confondent de tristesse de tomorrow is a long time

bob dylan/elvis presley/tomorrow is a long time

hey louis, how can you choose between these three?

alan vega/suicide/dream, baby, dream

bruce springsteen, dream, baby, dream
or
...
...

hasil adkins

hey louis, who's the king of zen swing?

fred astaire, 1932

fred astaire, 1952
THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT was written especially for fred astaire in the early thirties
(words: dorothy fields/music: jerome kern)
i have to admit i prefer the jazz version, nearly as good as sinatra's or peggy lee's ....

hey louis, did you see dylan in buenos aires today?

bob dylan/like a rolling stone
buenos aires, 15/03/08
slowly, slowly, the melody DOES seem to be coming back ....

... and who's the queen of understated zen swing?

peggy lee/the way you look tonight
(jerome kern/dorothy fields)
the song was created by fred astaire, made immortal by sinatra ....
but the best version is by miss peggy lee

PS. two more splendid versions of the song ....

1. the lettermen (1961)
2. billie holiday (1936)
PS. two more beautiful readings of the song

rod stewart/frank sinatra

... and a much older peggy lee (even more zen)

peggy lee, i see you (1995)
.. ... ....
... .... ....
as beautiful, as perfect, as moving, as the very best of billie holiday's LADY IN SATIN .....
it's a real masterpiece, it comes from BENNY CARTER'S SONG BOOK, he was 90 years old, peggy lee was much younger but already very sick.
this song, written by benny carter, had never been recorded before.
listen to the sweet sound of benny carter's alto saxophone, listen to the sweet sound of peggy lee's voice ....
like a strange reminiscence of billie holiday and lester young's unique combination of sounds ...
nothing compares to that.
nothing.

" invraisemblable ou pas, crois-moi, c'est la vérité -et il n'y en a pas deux ..."
