here's to a great mysterious lady singer, johnnie ruth manuel, a beautiful woman who sang with the legendary harry choates (new iberia, louisiana, 1922-austin, texas, 1951), and with whom choates had an illegitimate affair (she was married to one of his best friends, a regular musician in his orchestra)

johnnie ruth manuel (vocal)/harry choates (violin) /missing you (les films d'occasion production)/i could not find a single photograph of johnnie ruth manuel on google but there's a beautiful one in bear family's fabulous harry choates double cd, "devil in the bayou", a must for louisiana and cajun music fanatics ...
he's the only white rocker to ever have sung at the apollo, in harlem ... for a totally black audience ... si j'aime tant buddy holly, c'est que c'est l'un des seuls rockers à être à la fois noir et blanc / si noir, si blanc ...
il y a deux versions de ce clip, et c'est celle là (avec danseuses à la busby berkeley) que je préfère ...

buddy holly/peggy sue (1958)

two minimalist productions by the great underrated bobby troup: first the forgotten joanie sommers, standing here as a julie london "doublure" ... then the great bobby troup himself ...

joanie sommers/i'll close my eyes/cherokee

bobby troup/their hearts were full of spring (les films d'occasion production)

blossom dearie/audrey hepburn/(+ george peppard)/ try your wings
young bob dylan was deeply in love with beautiful mimi farina, joan baez's sister, and you can say he was also in love with richard farina (love, admiration, jalousy, who can tell?), a young man of great talent, who lived just as he, bob dylan, wished he would had lived: live fast, die young (of a motorcycle accident, of course) just after publishing a real novel, a novel of great beauty, been down so long it looks like up to me, a novel of such a litterary quality dylan's tarentulas or chronicles, volume one, would never never reach

mimi and richard farina (+ pete seeger) /house un-american blues activity dream (26 février 1966)/ quelques mois plus tard (mai 1966), dick farina se tue dans un accident de moto, quelques jours à peine après la sortie de son livre/deux mois plus tard, dylan ne réussit même pas à se tuer dans un accident de moto ... ni à sortir son livre (il avait essayé de battre dick farina à la corde en signant un contrat avant lui par pure jalousie, dès qu'il avait su que farina avait terminé son roman, mais bob se révéla incapable d'écrire un livre) / so who won? who lost? and what kind of a  gamble was it?
