peace in the valley, written by thomas a dorsey (see 3.02, at 00.49) is sung here in 1955 by the blackwoods, with jd sumner, bass extraordinaire/next is sumner with his own group, the stamps (1967)/he was presley's first idol, but elvis was a deep barytone/presley was often seen backstage of blackwoods' concerts, and dreamed of joining them/in presley's tv version (1957), the gospel group singing peace in the valley is the jordanaires (the blackwoods were probably too expensive) ...

the story of georgia tom/thomas a dorsey, inventor of dirty hokum blues, gospel and rock and roll


first is a simple blues, in 1928, then a few months later only, his very first country gospel (1929), then georgia tom would become professor thomas a dorsey (peace in the valley, precious lord)

long live bonnie prince billy's and raoul walsh's shrieking and soft madness
